Grammys 2026: Artists Say “ICE OUT” – A Big Night of Protest Against Trump’s Immigration Crackdown
The 68th Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles became more than a celebration of music—it turned into a visible stage for protest against President Trump’s immigration enforcement policies.
Many of the biggest names in the industry wore “ICE OUT” pins on the red carpet, including Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, Kehlani, Justin Bieber, Gloria Estefan, Shaboozey, and others. The message was consistent: remove Immigration and Customs Enforcement from communities, stop family separations, end raids, and stand with immigrants.
Bad Bunny said “ICE out” before giving thanks in his speech. Billie Eilish condemned the raids directly. Gloria Estefan spoke powerfully about immigrant rights. Shaboozey and Kehlani used their moments to show solidarity with affected communities, especially referencing recent deadly ICE incidents in Minneapolis that sparked local protests. Host Trevor Noah also touched on the broader immigration tensions during the broadcast.
For many in Africa, this is not distant news. Millions of Nigerians, Ghanaians, Kenyans, Somalis, and others live and work in the United States, and remittances from the diaspora are a major source of income for families and national economies back home. When policies tighten, it disrupts that support, makes travel harder, and closes doors on opportunity.
Seeing global artists use one of the world’s biggest stages to raise these concerns shows the power of public platforms to influence policy and amplify voices that are often ignored. It also serves as inspiration for African musicians, filmmakers, and influencers who already speak out on social justice, displacement, and rights in our own countries. When people stand together across borders, the pressure for fairer, more humane policies grows stronger.
