Tinubu Pledges Stronger Security to Fix Nigeria’s Economy
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised a renewed push to improve security across Nigeria, describing safety as the foundation for economic growth and national stability. Speaking at the National Economic Council conference, the president said his administration will increase funding for the police and military, improve training for security officers, and strengthen partnerships with local communities.
According to Tinubu, insecurity discourages investment, destroys livelihoods, and keeps millions of Nigerians in fear. He argued that without safe roads, farms, and communities, economic recovery is impossible. The government’s plan focuses on tackling banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency, which continue to affect large parts of the country.
While many Nigerians welcome the pledge, there is also skepticism. Similar promises have been made in the past, yet attacks have continued. Analysts and citizens alike are asking how the new funding will be sourced, how it will be monitored, and whether it will reach officers and communities on the ground.
If implemented transparently, the strategy could help farmers return to their fields, traders travel safely, and businesses expand. But for now, Nigerians are watching closely, hoping this pledge leads to real action rather than another unfulfilled promise
